It’s true, but it’s always my mind to do business. In fact, I had hesitated between Civil Engineer and Business Engineer, but I figured if I had to do both, it would be easier to start with the more scientific version than the other way around. Finally, my penchant for economics was confirmed during my studies: not only did I systematically prefer the commercial aspect of my projects, but I also created, with two friends, a file exchange platform for students which convinced about 95% of the faculty.
Yes, although in the end the project did not turn into a real business. The idea was difficult to monetize and my partner and I took different directions. Today the platform is still active, but rather it has become a collaborative project that belongs to the university. That said, that's when I learned the basics of "performance marketing": optimizing the path that customers take - called the "customer journey" - to improve their experience while reducing costs.
During my studies, I took on independent student status, a super advantageous formula for embarking on professional activities without taking too much risk. A friend of mine had become the first Accountable employee, another Brussels start-up: for me, it was the dream path. I applied and was lucky enough to be able to work there as an intern and freelance. At one point, as I wanted to increase my workload, Nicolas Quarré, one of the co-founders of Accountable, recommended me to easyvest.
My goal is to find as many customers as possible at the lowest possible cost. This is done through digital campaigns, on Google Ads in particular, by making the best use of our digital assets: content elements, portfolio simulator, etc. The challenge is to refine the profile of the people we want to attract and adapt marketing messages based on these profiles.
In a way, yes: I wish I could quit working in 20 years. As a result, I don't spend everything I earn, and I'm willing to take some risks to secure my future.
Notably, but this is not where I take the most risks: 95% of my investments are rather passive, and with the remaining 5% I experiment more, for example with bitcoin - which I bought when it was still very low fortunately!
